BBC Midlands Today recently reported on Birmingham’s newest landmarks to the city centre’s streetscape with the installation of three innovative elliptical advertising LED displays- known as ‘Media Eyes’. They form part of the £600 million investment in Birmingham’s infrastructure.
The project, commissioned by Network Rail and build by Concept is one of the first stations in the country to feature state-of-the-art curved large-format LED display structures above all three of its main entrances.
Concept designed, engineered and have installed all three bespoke LED displays in addition to a custom display control system to drive dynamic content. The South and South East eyes use the latest custom full colour LED screen technology consisting of over 1000 modules configured in a module matrix to create the complex curve geometry required for the facade. The North West Corner eye at the Navigation Street entrance uses a transparent LED mesh so natural light can still enter the building.
The media content for the eyes will display a portion of public information for the city as well as commercial advertising the displays can also be used to display station messaging in emergency situations. Ocean Outdoor will be providing commercial advertising content for each media eye.
